EVENT BRIEF :

MUN – Model United Nations is a simulation of an actual United Nations conference. It’s a platform for students to gain and hone the knowledge about global issues and foreign policies of all the countries. Students from varied backgrounds take the roles of delegates and chairs, representing different nations and collectively participate in debate, discussion and reach a solution for the assigned agenda. It catapults students into the world of diplomacy, negotiation, and international relations. Students, better known as “delegates” are assigned to solve a global issue through research, debate, lobbying, and drafting to pass a befitting “Resolution”.

Model United Nations is an exceptional opportunity for students from different backgrounds to engage in world affairs as the ‘agendas or topics’ taken up in MUNs are a rumination of real-world issues discussed by the United Nations. Importantly, it is the best field for students to learn critical social skills that will help them throughout their social and professional life.

Students of BGS NPS Bannerghatta participated in the MUN Conference organized by BGS NPS Hulimavu where they spectated the entire process and discussion that took place under formal ‘Rules of Procedure’ to truly model the format of the UN. Whether MUN is about learning to discuss complex issues, negotiating on it and compromise, or learning to be a leader, students could “find their voice” through Model United Nations, and realize their leadership potential and social ability. Model United Nations helped students build the confidence in them to succeed.
