ACTIVITY TITLE : Nature Club Activity: Natural Dyeing

ACTIVITY BRIEF :

An activity was conducted for Nature club students to explore how to create natural dyes using natural and organic materials with just a few ingredients from the yard or kitchen. It is always fun playing with colors. Students enjoyed extracting colors like purple from pomegranate, red fromhibiscus flower, brown from coffee powder, yellow from turmeric, green from palak ect. Theyeven recollected how their grandmothers use rice flour paste to draw rangoli during festivals.After extracting colors they even enjoyed coloring their own bookmarks with their own creativity.

Students understood that these natural dyes are eco-friendly, biodegradable, less toxic as

compared to synthetic dyes. Students could learn about the environmental impact of synthetic dyes and the benefits of using natural alternatives. This could raise awareness about sustainable practices and encourage more environmentally-friendly choices.
